Frances Ellen has been writing for as long as she can remember, with snippets of stories scurrying around in her head. Her memoirs, essays and researched articles have been published in the Orlando Sentinel News Review, Freelance Writers Report, Today’s Spirit, and Women Beautiful, among others.
Although born in Pennsylvania, she has been a transplanted Floridian for over twenty-five years. Some things, however, never change—she’s a Philly Girl when it comes to the Phillies and their beloved Phanatic mascot. She’s also been known to shout for the Philadelphia Eagles a time or two.
Sad to say she still misses those Philly cheesesteaks, Herr’s potato chips, Rita’s water ice gelati, German butter cake and tomato pies.
Nowadays she writes from a small town in Florida with the help of her two cats: Remington and Frankie. One is a lap-cat who sends her telepathic ideas for story lines and the other critiques her work by walking across the keyboard when he doesn’t care for something she’s writing. With their help, Frances has completed a novel, The Gypsy’s Promise, due to be published next year. Currently, she is writing a book that will follow the lives of many of the characters that inhabit her first novel.
She often feels like she lives on an animal preserve. The property between her home and the lake is chock full of critters. Most of all, she enjoys watching birds build their nest and later coaxing their fledglings to fly. In addition to birdwatching, her other interests include writing astrology articles, especially the health and relationship aspects of each sun sign. Her interest in studying the human condition has time and again supplied her with ideas for her writing.
She also has a passion for reading and sometimes reads three books simultaneously: one that is kept on her night table, another next to her easy chair in the living room and the car paperback for all those moments when “waiting” is necessary, which is all too often.
Her newest endeavor is acrylic painting. Another Renoir she is not, but it is an enjoyable pastime.
